Privacy Policy

Your files

When you use a tool, the file is opened and processed by code running in your own browser. There is no upload step and no server that receives your file. Closing the tab clears the file from the page, unless a tool tells you it has saved your work (see below).

The site's security policy also limits which outside services a page can contact at all: Cloudflare's analytics and Google Analytics, described below. Neither ever receives a file, a file name or anything you typed into a tool.

What is saved in your browser

Some tools remember your work so you can come back to it — for example a Photo Report with its photos, the entries in calculators such as the construction and land calculators or Split the bill, the settings in Image Combiner, and small preferences like the light or dark theme, whether you have seen a tip, and your analytics choice.

All of this is kept in your browser's own storage on this device. It is never sent to us, and other devices cannot see it. Tools that save work give you a way to delete it, and clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything at once.

Analytics

We use two services to understand how the site is used, so we know what to fix and what to build next.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. It sees things like the page, the referring site, the browser type and the country, and shows them to us only as totals.

Google Analytics

It helps us see which tools are useful and where people get stuck. It collects:

• The pages you visit, how you arrived (the referring site) and roughly how long you stay.
• Device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language.
• Approximate location — country and city, worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself.
• A few events we send: that a tool finished a task (only the tool's name), searches on this site that found nothing (the first 40 characters of what was typed — so please do not type personal details in the search box), and which ready-made question you tapped in Readi.

It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ND9W7SBCR9 holding a random ID, so repeat visits can be counted. They last up to two years unless you clear them. The data is kept for 14 months. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so this data is not used for advertising or joined with Google accounts. Google processes it on our behalf and may do so outside your country; see how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Google Analytics is never loaded before the page you asked for has finished loading, and never reads your files.

Your choice

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics is off until you choose Allow. If our site cannot tell where you are, Google's own settings for those regions still keep its cookies off. Everywhere else it is on by default, and you can turn it off here.

Advertising

This site does not show advertising at the moment. We plan to add ads through Google AdSense later. Before that happens, this page will be updated, and visitors in the regions that require it will be asked for consent through a message certified by Google before any advertising cookies are used.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each request — such as your IP address and browser — to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. Those pages are the same for everyone, and your files are never part of a request.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites, such as official sources for exam photo sizes. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Children

ToolRead is a general-purpose site and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR give you the right to access, correct or delete data about you, and to object to its use. We hold no files, accounts or names. Analytics data is tied only to a random cookie ID, so we cannot normally tell which data is yours — turning analytics off and clearing your cookies breaks that link for good.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top is updated. Big changes, like adding advertising, will also be explained on the site. Questions? See the contact page.
