Common questions
Do these codes expire?
Never. The data is inside the code itself, so there is no redirect and no server involved. A code printed today still works in ten years, and we could not disable it even if we wanted to.
Why does the Wi-Fi code show my password?
A Wi-Fi QR code has to contain the password to work — that is how phones join the network without typing. Anyone who scans it gets access, so only print it where you would happily write the password on paper.
PNG or SVG?
PNG for screens, WhatsApp and most printing. SVG when a designer needs it, or when it will be printed very large — SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size.
What does error correction mean?
Higher levels add redundant data so the code still scans when part of it is scratched, smudged or covered by a logo. Higher levels make the pattern denser, so use Medium for screens and High for anything printed.
I need something I can print and stick on a wall.
Use the QR Code Poster Maker instead. It wraps the same code in a printable design with a heading, your colours and your logo, sized for A4 or a table card.
Why do other QR codes stop working?
Most free generators create a dynamic code: the pattern points at their server, which then redirects to your link. That lets them count scans, but it also means the code dies if they shut down, change their pricing or you stop paying. You may have noticed the brief pause when scanning one.
Can I change where the code points after printing it?
No, and that is deliberate. Your link is encoded directly in the pattern, so it opens instantly and works forever — but it also means a new destination needs a new code. If you expect the link to change, point it at a page you control and change the page instead.
