Common questions
Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?
No. The test only notes which key was pressed, inside this browser tab. Nothing is saved or sent, and it all clears when you leave the page.
Why does a key type twice when I press it once?
That is called key chatter. The switch under the key bounces and sends two presses a few milliseconds apart. Dust is a common cause, so blow air under the keycap or clean it, then test again. If it keeps happening, the switch is worn.
Why doesn't the Fn key light up?
Fn and most media keys are handled inside the keyboard and never reach the browser, so no website can test them. The same goes for some system shortcuts like Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
What is ghosting?
When you hold several keys at once, some keyboards can't register one of them. Hold the keys you use together in the ghosting check — if one doesn't light up, your keyboard can't handle that combination.
